Every Student is Unique

Standardized tests are one sized fits all, but no two kiddos are the same. One of the joys of my job is helping individual young people find their own strengths and overcome their own weaknesses, enabling them to approach these tests with confidence and success. Getting to know each student is a delight—I love finding out who’s an avid baker, or a recruited lacrosse player, or a Shakespeare scholar!

I meet with students over Zoom, usually once a week for about an hour per session, but it always depends on what works best for each individual. I generally recommend starting prep about ten weeks before the student’s first test. Additionally, I recommend always planning to take the test two or three times after prep. This strategy gives students a greater chance to have a “home-run day,” alleviating the stress of any individual test date. Of course, any kid can have a home run their first time! It’s just good to have a backup plan in place.

I assign homework after every session because, unfortunately, there’s no way to master these tests without putting in the work. I aim to assign one to two hours of homework per session and I always reinforce the idea that practicing well means less practice overall. Never rush through my homework!

I look forward to getting to know your student!
